Our History
Eton Manor Boys Club was formed in Hackney, East London, in 1907 to help get the kids off the streets and give them some purpose in life.  The clubs Headquarters was The Wilderness, now known as The East-Way Sport Center, on Hackney Marshes. The club provided youngsters with a wide variety of sports, including Football, Rugby, Swimming, Cricket and Athletics,  to name but a few.   The Athletics Club was the first club in the country to host floodlit track and Field meetings, and was also the first to have all weather run ups for the jumping events.

In the mid 1960’s, the then owner, Major Villiers decided to close the club down.  Most of the sections decided to keep the club going, albeit not under one roof, as the ground at the Wilderness was to be sold off.  The Eton Manor Association was formed and is still going strong, and there is an Annual reunion held in the first week in July.

As for the Athletics section, we were in the doldrums for quite some time, but have now established ourselves firmly in Waltham Forest, and have excellent changing and shower facilities, along with weight training equipment etc.

New members are always welcome, and no matter your age or ability, you will get all the encouragement you need from club members.  Just call over on any training night, or contact us via details on the contact page.
