Despite a quiet April in terms of official club races as we eagerly await the start of the summer season, Manorites have
still be keeping rather busy in recent weeks taking on the ultimate challenge of 26.2 miles!

In Manchester, perfect running conditions greeted the few Manorites that had made the trip north and the standout
performance has to go to Ed who smashed the 3-hour barrier and came home in a new PB of 2:53. Not far behind and feeling happy to be in familiar surroundings was Paul R who finished in
3:04. A solid debut over the marathon distance for Darrell who finished in 4:41 and to round things off was a very considerable PB for 2nd claimer Kevin who ran 3:01.

A week after the exploits in the North, Manorite brilliance was set to continue this time a bit closer to home, as the 43rd and biggest ever edition of the London Marathon took place. Most runners probably spent around half the week in the build up checking weather forecasts, and about twenty minutes before the start the rain began! Despite the slightly damp conditions, there would need to be more than a bit of rain to deter some huge Manorite performances. The fastest Manorite on the day was Simon who managed to make a 2:37 marathon look rather casual! Just behind him was Jack in a new PB of 2:38, Sam in 2:53 and some awesome splits from George ensured his PB was brought down to 2:54! A PB also for Craig whose stylish pink shorts were probably enough to give him the best dressed Manorite prize and his time of 2:55 wasn’t too bad either.

Liz was our first female Manorite to reach the Mall finish line in 3:24, which was a huge 18-minute PB from her marathon debut in Autumn last year – awesome! A solid London debut for Lee who ran 3:37, finishing just ahead of seasoned marathon professional Jane P who clocked a 3:38. Despite only having one fully functioning leg for 10 miles of the race, our women’s captain Jane still managed a super impressive 3:43 and Fiona Gold wrapped up an impressive day out for our Manorite ladies finishing in 4:21.

Richard took the prize for the biggest PB of the day taking 20 minutes of his Manchester time with a 3:39. Aaron who has become a poster boy for this spectacle of an event, was once again out running and raising money for Mencap and finished in 5:23. An excellent run for Colm saw him finish in 3:49 and finally I also somehow picked up a new PB of 3:19. A huge shoutout as well to all the Manorites around the course cheering for whom the rain was probably a little less refreshing, it really made a difference!

Also kudos to Kathy, Steph, Sharron, Tracey, Harriet and Sam who were all volunteering in various capacities as well!
